Meet Supa Kuna: A Startup Helping People Save on Groceries with a Price Comparison App

The team Supa Kuna finished a 7-week pre-incubation program at BIRD Incubator last year. They’re popping up on our feeds with exciting updates, and one worth sharing: Supa Kuna app for comparing prices is out, and you can test it, try it, and become a part of their journey.

1. Who are you, what’s the name and age of your startup, and what problem are you solving?

We’re Denny Lulak, Samuel Spence, Wisdom Anthony, and Franko Fišter, four students who founded Supa Kuna about nine months ago. We’re tackling the problem of grocery price transparency in Croatia, helping people instantly find where to shop for the best deals and save real money on everyday essentialswithout the hassle of comparing prices manually.

2. How did you first connect with BIRD Incubator, and what made you decide to join the program?

We attended an event at RIT Croatia hosted by Antonia Kurtović, where Vid Zavalić (then a project manager at BIRD) was a guest speaker. I pitched our idea afterward, we went through an interview for the pre-incubation program, and things kicked off from there—back when we were very early in the startup process and needed structure and guidance.

3. Every startup faces challenges, what’s been your toughest obstacle so far, and how did you overcome it?

Our toughest challenge has been handling, cleaning, and displaying vast amounts of data in a way that’s both useful and sustainable. We’ve had to learn advanced optimization techniques, build robust data pipelines, and constantly iterate on how we present information so users get clear, actionable insights without being overwhelmed by complexity.

4. What’s one resource, connection, or experience at BIRD Incubator that truly made a difference in your startup’s growth?

The pre-incubation program was an incredibly well-rounded introduction to the Croatian startup ecosystem, covering everything from business models to fundraising to product development. It gave us the bigger picture we desperately needed as technical students, and we met a lot of interesting people who’ve become valuable connections along the way.

5. Investors and partners are often curious, what makes your business model stand out, and who are your target customers?

Our platform is completely free with no ads for users, we’re playing the long game with a model that aligns consumer and retailer interests in ways most won’t see coming. Our primary customers are young families, students, and budget-conscious shoppers across Croatia, but the real magic happens when transparency and competition in the market create the right incentives for everyon.

6. Let’s talk about the future, where do you see your startup in five years, what goals are you most excited to achieve, and how can people already start trying out your app and join the tester community today?

In five years, we see Supa Kunaas the leading price comparison platformnot just in Croatia, but expanding across neighboring markets, with partnerships that actively drive down grocery pricesthrough transparency and healthy competition. We’re most excited about proving that student-built technology can create real economic impactfor everyday people, helping families keep more money in their pockets. 7. To wrap up, what’s one piece of advice or wisdom from your journey that you believe every founder should know?

Don’t let anyone convince you your idea is crazy, some of the best solutions look impossible until someone actually builds them. Start before you’re ready, surround yourself with people who challenge and support you, and remember that the people you meet and the resilience you develop are just as valuable as the product itself. Launch, learn, and let your results do the talking.
